Summary
[edit]DescriptionDevonport Leat - waterfall and aqueduct - geograph.org.uk - 643393.jpg |
English: Devonport Leat - waterfall and aqueduct This view is looking north and shows the waterfall in full flow as it flows down to the aqueduct and turns sharply to the west. From here it heads down through the woods and into Burrator Reservoir.
Sir Francis Drake is always associated with the original leat as he was instrumental in having constructed to provide the first municipal water supply in the country. The water originally supplied the ships moored at Devonport with freshwater. The Devonport Leat first flowed into Devonport on 24th April 1591. |
