English: Steps of Japanese sword making. The folding (the 5 steps shown from right to left) is repeated as many times as needed (usually about 10 times), then the steel block is hammered to stretch to its final size (the 3 steps from top to bottom).

Français : Les étapes de fabrication d'un sabre japonais. Une fois l'opération de feuilletage (les 5 étapes présentées au bout des manches verticaux, de droite à gauche) répétée autant de fois que voulu (généralement une dizaine de fois), la brique d'acier est étirée, puis enfin forgée pour atteindre sa forme définitive (étapes montrées par les trois barres horizontales, de haut en bas).
