Summary[edit]

Description

This photo shows a Custody officers monitoring CCTV of cells at Birmingham Central police station.

During the suspects’ time in custody, their wellbeing will be checked on a regular basis based on a risk assessment.

Depending on the risk assessment, some suspects may be put in cells containing CCTV. This is so we can ensure their wellbeing.

An officer keeps a careful eye on the activities of these suspects using the camera system.

We also have a triage system with a healthcare nurse based in the custody block to ensure suspects wellbeing during busy times.

All suspects are treated with the utmost respect and dignity while in custody. Sadly, this isn’t always reciprocated!
