Description
Een Hoftuin. In het midden van de prent is Batseba te zien, die bij een fontein aan het baden is. Koning David (linksboven) ziet haar vanuit zijn dakterras (2 Samuel 11:2). Hij stuurt een bode (linksonder) met de opdracht Batseba naar het paleis te halen (2 Samuel 11:4). De bode brengt vervolgens het bericht naar de nog steeds badende Batseba. Een aapje (zondigheid) en twee pauwen (hoogmoed) slaan de gebeurtenissen gade. Twee honden op de linkervoorgrond beelden opnieuw hofmakerij uit.
