Summary[edit]

Description
English: D&R 2-6-0 # 11 circa 1950 while likely still in active use. She was constructed as M-K-T # 444 (subsequently renumbered 402, 931, 1205), later sold to Rockdale and Southern (# 4), then D&R, which scrapped her in 1955.

Under the Whyte notation for the classification of steam locomotives, 2-6-0 represents the wheel arrangement of two leading wheels on one axle, usually in a leading truck, six powered and coupled driving wheels on three axles, and no trailing wheels. This arrangement is commonly called a Mogul.

In the United States and Europe, the 2-6-0 wheel arrangement was principally used on tender locomotives (had a special rail vehicle hauled by the steam locomotive containing its fuel and water). This type of locomotive was widely built in the United States from the early 1860s to the 1920s. (Wikipedia)
