Description
English: Helianthus (From Greek "Helios", God of Sun & "Anthos" Flower).

The common name, "Sunflower", typically refers to the popular annual species Helianthus annuus, whose round flower heads in combination with the ligules look like the sun.

Facts

1. The French word for sunflower is tournesol, which literally means "turn with the sun", and sunflowers exactly do that.

2. That's why mean people are called "Sunflower", because they always support / worship the "One in Power".

3. The tracking of the sun in young sunflower heads is called heliotropism.

4. Sunflower is a genus of plants comprising about 70 species.

5. Sunflowers will mature and develop seeds in 80 to 120 days.

6. By the time they are mature, sunflowers generally face east.

7. The world's total production of sunflower oil in 2014 was nearly 16 million tonnes, with Ukraine and Russia as the largest producers.
