Cypress Grove Cemetery 2 New Orleans 1853

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Illustration of Cypress Grove Cemetery Number 2 in New Orleans, 1853. Not to be confused with still existing Cypress Grove Cemetery (formerly called Cypress Grove Cemetery 1), this cemetery no longer exists; the majority of it's former location is now under a section of Canal Boulevard adjacent to Greenwood Cemetery. It was mostly used to bury paupers and yellow fever fatalities. Note sign at right for "Race Course", referring to nearby Metairie Race Course, now the location of Metairie Cemetery.
