Description
Српски / srpski: Црква Вазнесења Господњег у Чачку.

Данашња чачанска црква подигнута је на остацима Богородице Градачке, задужбине жупана Страцимира, брата Стефана Немање, с краја XII века. О угледу манастира, са црквом посвећеном Успењу Богородице, сведочи Студенички типик с почетка XIII века, по коме је градачки игуман учествовао у избору студеничког старешине. У повељи Стефана Првовенчаног, на зиду жичког звоника, Страцимирова задужбина је изједначена са Студеницом, Св. Ђорђе у Расу и Хиландаром. О њеном репрезентативном изгледу сведоче сачувани фрагменти архитектонске пластике. За време владавине Турака, од 1459. до 1834. чачанска црква је три пута претварана у џамију. Њен садашњи изглед је последица великог броја обнова, од којих је последња била између 1926. и 1929. под руководством арх. Петра Поповића. Црква је једнобродна, са развијеним олтарским простором који чине три апсиде, пространом припратом и бочним улазима. Централни простор храма наткриљује неуобичајено велика купола, ослоњена на дубоке тромпе са посувраћеним луком, што је одраз времена у коме је црква била џамија. Улаз на западној страни фланкиран је двема високим кулама. Фасаде су оживљене двоструким слепим аркадама и високим, узаним, лучно засведеним прозорима. Монументални иконостас, рад Живка Павловића из Пожаревца, потиче из времена обнове од 1834. до 1846, која је предузета пре свега захваљујући ужичком епископу Нићифору Максимовићу.
