Summary[edit]

Description

This photo captures the stone bell (aka lithophone, phonolith or phonolithic bell) in the preceding photo in its larger architectural context, which includes a high wall and a door that opens onto a stone courtyard with broad, eroded shallow steps. The door no doubt opens into a chamber carved out of solid rock, like most other structures in the 13th century complex of rock-hewn churches.
