Summary[edit]

Description
English: Though still wildly expensive, the 1709 invention of eau de cologne by Italian-German perfumier Johann Maria Farina - one of the first fragrances on the market to be homogeneous in scent yet complex and unique in composition - led to a boom in popularity of liquid perfumes among the European upper classes. These small perfume bottles, sourced from England and more specifically the glass workshops of London and South Staffordshire, date from the ensuing era. As seen in the "35 Centuries of Glass" gallery during a March 2022 visit to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
