Titus Manlius Torquatus has his son beheaded for disobedience. Manlius Torquatus, as consul and leader of the army, sits on a dais between two columns. One the ground lies the body of his son stripped of his armor. The executioner holds the severed head. To the right a solider holds a horse. In the background are the buildings of Rome.
