Description
English: Components of the Television Infrared Observation Satellite (TIROS). TIROS spacecraft were the beginning of a long series of polar-orbiting meteorological satellites. TIROS was followed by the TOS (TIROS Operational System) series, and then the ITOS (Improved TIROS Operational System) series, and later the NOAA series. TIROS spacecraft were developed by Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and managed by ESSA (Environmental Science Services Administration). The objective was to establish a global weather satellite system. As described by TIROS Quicklook, from the JPL Mission and Spacecraft Library.

This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: because that color of pink did not even exist in this world until the late 1970s, perhaps not even until the mid-1980s when Mattel(tm) put a copyright on it for Barbie.
