Title
Complete Medieval or Postmedieval Copper Alloy Purse Frame: Obverse and Reverse Views
Description
English: A complete late medieval or early post-medieval copper alloy purse frame. It consists of a cast oval loop of copper alloy, measuring 151.6mm x 107.8mm. The loop is plain and unornamented, with a series of 10 perforations through which copper wire was passed. Several lengths of this are preserved, and the wire is tied in a single knot at each lug.

The loop is open, with an offset connecting swivel bar joining the two terminals. An ovoid suspension loop fits through a central perforation in this bar.

Fragments of medieval and post-medieval purse bars are relatively common finds, but the level of preservationand completeness of this example are exceptional.
