Title
English: Club room at Washington Chauffeurs Club, Seattle, circa 1909
Description
English:

The Washington Chauffeurs Club was founded in 1909 as an outgrowth of the Auto Mechanics Association, to create a higher standard of skill and proficiency in the driving profession, to educate and otherwise assist members, and to assist families of deceased members. Shortly after its incorporation, the club moved into the Odd Fellows Temple at 917 East Pine Street. Its quarters consisted of a large assembly room, with writing tables, periodicals and a player piano, and a pool room and gymnasium in the basement. This photo postcard shows the assembly room at the Washington Chauffeurs Club, with a piano in the corner at left, a gramophone against the far wall, tables, chairs, and rocking chairs, and with books, periodicals, and a spittoon available for use by members.
