| Description |
English: Casting on the south face of the Clock Tower situated at the junction of Pier Street and Great Darkgate Street. (See SN5881 : Pier Street for wider view.) The inscription reads (in Welsh above, with the English translation below):
"Arferai’r castin hwn amgylchynu’r pistyll yfed ar y Tŵr Cloc gwreiddiol a rhodd oedd ef gan y Parch John Williams (1826–1893) o’r Tabernacl, un brwd dros ddirwest a sylfaenydd y Gobeithlu yn Aberystwyth. This casting surrounded the drinking fountain on the original Clock Tower and was donated by the Rev John Williams (1825–1898) of Tabernacl, an ardent advocate of total abstinence and founder of Band of Hope in Aberystwyth." |
