Description

The open double-decker bus offers tourists a way to quickly tour the major sights of San Francisco, with narrations by an onboard guide. The bus, like similar services in other cities, operates as a hop-on, hop-off service.

In just about every city, my personal preference is to move about like a local; I am far more likely to utilize the Muni city bus (No. 19 route shown here). Muni (short for San Francisco Municipal Railway) is not exactly a model of good management, but nevertheless is extremely convenient to use, in a city where driving is often a non-option due to severe shortage of parking.

San Francisco Bay Area's multiple-agency smart farecard, Clipper (formerly TransLink), went live in 2010 after years of delay; with Clipper, I am finding it much less of a hassle to count change or take fare receipts whenever I travel on Muni or BART.
