Summary[edit]
DescriptionCity wall, Lady Herbert's garden - geograph.org.uk - 1142748.jpg |
English: City wall, Lady Herbert's garden One of the most substantial remaining sections of the city wall[1] lies in Lady Herbert's Garden between Cook Street Gate and Swanswell Gate, visible behind the blue bridge. This area was at one time used as a rope walk, a long narrow piece of land where lengths of rope were made. The garden was created in the 1930's in memory of the late wife of Sir Alfred Herbert. The blue bridge is a recent addition, taking a footpath from Millennium Place towards the Swanswell.
In the distance is the tower of Coventry's old fire station, now restaurants, and the spire of St Michael's cathedral church. |
