Description

Located at 85 Beacon Street across from Boston Common, this is the real neighborhood pub that inspired the popular 1980s sitcom of the same name. Actually its real name used to be Bull & Finch Pub, but thanks to its fame as the setting for Cheers, it changed its name to Cheers in 2002. And for that matter, its actual founding date is 1969, not 1895 as shown in the sitcom.

Cheers certainly capitalizes on its fame; while the basement is the real pub, the ground floor hosts a gift shop as well as a bar styled after the sitcom TV set. Additionally, Cheers runs an additional location at Faneuil Hall in downtown, again with a bar that is a replica of the TV production set.
