Français : Autoportrait présumé, à une balustrade devant sa boîte à peindre en miniature, 1805, miniature sur ivoire contrecollé sur carton, 14,5 x 11,5 cm.
La miniature est signée en bas au centre du monogramme DM pour « Daniel Martner », localisée en bas à gauche « Fort de France de Mart[ini]que » et datée en bas à droite « 30 9bre 1805 ». L’artiste s’est représentée entourée de ses serviteurs noirs, l’un qui lui apporte un verre d’eau, une femme avec du linge dans un panier sur sa tête au fond dans le jardin, et assise dans le salon, une autre femme avec son enfant endormi sur ses genoux. Elle tient dans sa main droite posée sur le pupitre près d’une petite palette en ivoire chargée de couleurs, une miniature encadrée dans un médaillon ovale, qu’elle montre ostensiblement au spectateur : on y voit un homme aux cheveux gris, en costume bleu. La jeune artiste s’est représentée assise à une balustrade ornée d’un relief sculpté, peint en grisaille au premier plan de la miniature. Elle se montre cultivant les arts, assise près d’un piano, sous des tableaux accrochés au mur, un livre fermé et un recueil de dessins ouvert posés sur la balustrade, avec un bouquet de fleurs et un paniers de fruits exotiques où trône un ananas. La fenêtre au fond à gauche est garnie de persiennes vertes presque fermées. Le mur de part et d’autre de la fenêtre est paré de demi-colonnes, signe d’une demeure opulente.
