Summary[edit]

  • Source: Francis W. Halsey, copyright 1919, "The Literary History of the World War", Volume III.
  • Caption: General Charles Mangin. Mangin under Nivelle, had a command at Verdun during the later operations in 1916. At the historic meeting with the British under Kitchener at Fashoda in 1898, he was present with Marchand. Marchand also was still living and in active service in the West.
