(b. 1500, Firenze, d. 1571, Firenze) Perseus 1545 Wax, height 72 cm Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence The wax model for the statue of Perseus and the body of Medusa was produced between August and October 1545, and the first payments for the erection of a workshop date from October of that year. This wax model was the first of the two existing models Cellini executed for his great bronze Perseus.
