J. B. GREUZE.32 THE TWO SISTERS jjf/srz The scene is the interior of a cottage, where a humbly-clad peasant-girl, in a striped gown, seated beside herfather, is being held by him at arms length from hergaily-dressed sister, who has just entered, and who, be-decked with large pearls and other ornaments, is holdingout to her indignant parent a purse of gold in the hopeof thereby appeasing him. The book of the play shecarries in her hand is suggestive of her having fled fromhome to go upon the stage 23 in. by 28; in.
