English: Carnegie Library, Newport Located on Corporation Road, between Milner Street and Hamilton Street.
Now a branch of Newport City Council's library service, the library was built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. It opened in 1907. More than 2,500 Carnegie libraries were built worldwide, including 660 in Britain and Ireland. The other one in the city of Newport is at Rogerstone. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1662731 |
