Summary[edit]

Description
English: Canal Basin, Skipton. This canal basin, in the centre of Skipton, forms part of Britain's longest inland waterway the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

Opened in 1816 and stretching 127 miles the canal took 46 years to build. The canal passes straight through the centre of Skipton and here, at the canal basin, there is a junction with the half mile long 4128 that winds its way around the back of Skipton Castle.
