| Description |
Nederlands: Repronegatief. Naast een puur botanische en esthetische functie, had de Plantentuin ook een commercieel doel. Er werden allerlei proeven genomen met de teelt van talloze variëteiten van diverse handelsgewassen. Geslaagde exemplaren verzond men in forse hoeveelheden naar ondernemingen in binnen- en buitenland. Daartoe maakte men gebruik van speciaal daarvoor ontworpen, zogeheten Wardsche kisten, zoals op de foto is afgebeeld. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
