| Description |
Nederlands: Repronegatief. Na de oprichting van de Hollands-Inlandse scholen moesten er ook vervolgopleidingen komen. Daarvan was de MULO (Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs), een uit Nederland stammend schooltype, het eerste, waarna in 1919 de AMS (Algemene Middelbare School) tot stand kwam, bedoeld als vervolg op de MULO. Net als in Nederland waren er verder de Hogere Burgerschool (HBS), Middelbare Meisjesschool (MMS) en het Lyceum. Deze laatste drie schooltypen hadden in 1939 tezamen 6.407 leerlingen, van wie 4.845 Europeanen, 724 Indonesiërs en 838 'vreemde Oosterlingen' (vooral Chinezen). Zeker geen indrukwekkende aantallen wat de Indonesiërs en de Chinezen betreft. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
