Summary[edit]

Description
English: Caption reads: Mr. Burnham, the American scout, and Commissioner Armstrong escaping after shooting the Mlimo. After Mr. Burnham, the American scout, had shot the Matabele prophet Mlimo, he and Mr. Armstrong, the assistant commissioner, had a narrow escape from the natives who all but cut off their retreat. The white men succeeded in reaching their horses, and had a hard ride for their lives, but fortunately reached Buluwayo unhurt. -- London Graphic.
