For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild 21.11.68 Rolf Henninger. Der 26 jährige Arbeitersohn, Angehöriger der Grenztruppen der NVA, wurde am 16.11.68 in Ausübung seines Dienstes an der Staatsgrenze zu Westberlin von einem bewaffneten Provokateur tödlich getroffen. Die Beisetzung des teuren Toten, der postum zum Unteroffizier befördert wurde und mit der Verdienstmedaille ver NVA in Gold geehrte wurde, fand am 21.11.68 in seinem Heimatort Saalfeld statt.
