For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Kaltennordheim, Melker beim Füttern ADN-ZB Schaar 31.7.1984 Bez. Suhl: Der Melker Frank (Fränk) Schäfer von der LPG "Rhönperle" in Kaltenlengsfeld, Kreis Bad Salzungen, füttert und melkt die Kühe auf der Weide. Auf weit entfernten Weideflächen bleiben die Tiere von Mai bis Oktober im Freien. Dazu wurden fünf Weidemelkstände eingerichtet. Zwei Drittel der 3 200 ha umfassenden landwirtschaftlichen Nutzfläche der LPG bestehen aus Grünland. Deshalb werden hauptsächlich Rinder und Schafe gehalten.
