Bidermann 2000 J6000 Dalmas was a sleeping partner with the management of thebusiness left to Cardon and Bidermann.^- Within a year Bider-manns ever-growing responsibilities in the powder businessrequired most of his time; thus, very early, the operation of thetannery became Cardons responsibility. It is interesting tonote that of the initial capital of $6000, E. I. du Pont advanced$3700—$2000 for Dalmas and $1750 for Bidermann—and thatduring the first year of business the du Pont Company met mostof the firms obligations.^^■^ Counting the gunpowder, cotton, and woole
