Description

Leningrad spring 1977 Near Hermitage (Bolshaya Morskaya str., 10) My father, who purchased this vehicle and had it shipped to Leningrad as our "family car" liked Buicks showed hisstrange sense of humor in buying this particular model. This was not a terribly large car by comparison with some American cars at the time, but it was an absurdly large two door car, and it had those silly "opera" windows in the back that made little sense.

This was after the first oil crises of the 70s so it was available with a V6, which meant it required somewhat less gasoline but as a result it was somewhat underpowered (and I don't think it did all that much for the gas mileage, either). I generally declined to show Russians the engine since it was not impressive - the engine compartment was designed for a V8 and the V6 looked kind of lost in there.
