Description
English: This week’s photograph is Bugg’s Cobblers shop, Beckside circa 1940.

Although officially a cobbler’s, it appears as though Mr Bugg sidelined as a bookie as well - note the shopfront adorned with lots of displays for racing tips such as ‘Today’s Tips, Starbound, Martell, Grand Royal Nap and Axle Tree’! Another board states ‘A Good Tip after the races visit the Alexandra Theatre, Hull.
Presumably, Mr. Bugg is the man standing hands-on-hips outside his shop as Beverley’s resident racing pundit.
