Description
English: Portrait of Richard Griffith, Brigadier General of the Confederate States of America, b. 1814 - d. 1862, that hangs in the Old Capital Museum's Mississippi Hall of Fame. Date is unknown and approximated to when he first held political office as Treasurer of Mississippi; assuming this is why a portrait was made. Note: Richard Griffith was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Mississippi in about 1840. He fought with the Mississippi Volunteers in the Mexican War. Griffith served as state treasurer and then as a U.S. marshal in Mississippi. He was a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. Location: 2nd floor, Senate Chamber
