Summary[edit]

Description
English: Braunston No 6 lock gates, Northamptonshire On the Grand Union canal (Main Line). These are the mitre gates at the bottom end of Braunston Top Lock. The locks are fourteen feet wide, so two narrowboats can be accommodated side by side. The canal was originally operated and owned by eight different companies. Some did not convert to cater for wide beam boats. Today, boats up to 12ft 6in beam (that is the maximum allowed in the tunnels) can use the canal where wide locks are installed.
