Description Photograph of the south-east wind turbineen at the Bowling Green Wind Farm. A 1.8 megawatt unit built by Vestas Wind Systems, it was dedicated on 7 November 2003. The tower is 256 ft (78 m) tall, each 134 ft (40.8 m) blade weighs 22,000 lbs (9980 kg), and the nacelle weighs over 138,900 lbs (63,000 kg). The turbine begins producing energy with wind speeds of 9 mph (14.4 kmh), hits peak energy production at 32 mph (51.5 kmh), and has a design tolerance of up to 150 mph (240 kmh).
