| Description |
English: Boer War Memorial near St Chad's The memorial commemorates the 146 members of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry who died during the Boer War. The regiment fought throughout, playing a leading part in the battle of Paardeberg in February 1900 and in the occupation of Bloemfontein and Pretoria.
The statue, which stands beside the balustrade on St Chad's Terrace, depicts a soldier with his rifle reversed and was unveiled in 1904. |
