Summary
[edit]DescriptionBobbers Mill - site of level crossing - geograph.org.uk - 1506882.jpg |
English: Bobbers Mill - site of level crossing This is the old Alfreton Road, superseded when Bobbers Mill Bridge was built in the 1930s. The level crossing gates and the signal box remained until the 1960s. The footbridge was a good place to watch the apparently never-ending processions of coal trains (empties northbound, loaded southbound) and the occasional local passenger train to Mansfield and Worksop (invariably hauled by the tank locomotive 40168). The Wheatsheaf public house is on the left. |
