Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bittern Boom Mere, Skirlaugh, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Patch of woodland east of Skirlaugh near the parish boundary with Ellerby, looking north-northwest from Langthorpe Road. The name suggests it was once (and may still be to some extent) a reed-filled pond frequented by bitterns, a type of heron known for its booming call which can be heard up to two miles away.
