Note: On the day of the independendence (), the territory of the British Gold Coast (since 1920 as part of "British West Africa") was composed of the basic Gold Coast Colony (in the Southern part as British colony since 1874), the protectorate "Asante" (since 1896, the former Kingdom of Ashanti), the protectorate of the "Northern Territories" (north of Ashanti, and east and south of the French areas, as well as west of Togo, since 1900), and the mandate area of "Togo" (the Western part of the former German colony "Togo", inclusively the so-called "Transvolta Province", since 1919).
