Description
English: Chief Petty Officer Joseph D. Lacue (near right), of Aransas Pass, Texas, an instructor at the Coast Guard's Aviation Electronics Technician "A" School, reviews procedures for operating and troubleshooting a voice and flight data recorder aboard an MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter simulator with three of his students, (from left) Airman Mitchell Brown of Beaufort, S.C., Airman Anthony Morris of North Port, Fla., and Airman Basil Stowe, of Northport, Mich., March 18, 2014. The 56-week AET school, one of three Class "A" Schools at ATTC that provide initial rate-specific training, teaches students entry-level ability to inspect, service and maintain a wide variety of aircraft electrical, communication, navigation, auto flight and sensor avionics systems. In the third phase of the school, which lasts seven weeks, students learn about avionics and navigation systems. Following graduation, AETs may be assigned to either rotary or fixed-wing aircraft, where they might fill aircrew positions including navigator, flight mechanic, radio operator, sensor systems operator or basic aircrewman. The VFDR is visible as a small orange box above Lacue's hands.
