Summary[edit]

Description

Carrying-on from last week's other "100 years ago" posting, here we have a Dillon family shot of Augusta Caroline Dillon seated in the gardens of Clonbrock house in County Galway dated to circa 1915.

It is not very often that we feature one of our esteemed photographers, today we pay homage to Augusta Caroline, Baroness Clonbrock. Please do have a good read of the comments and links below, you will learn everything you need to know about this pioneer of photography.

[/photos/91549360@N03/ O Mac PRO] Tell us some of the possible background of how the collection came to the NLI: "Apparently the NLI acquired the Clonbrock collection of nearly 3,000 photographs for £25 in 1976". Imagine if these had been lost to us!

Thank you to all who commented today.
