English: "The lining bears an inscription that was copied from the original canvas: 'Tableau peint par Mignard a l'occasion de la Confirmation de Louis XIV et de Philippe Duc d'Orléans, son frère.' Further on the lining, a passage from the Memoirs of Mlle. de Montpensier: 'Après ma guérison, j'allait au Palais Royal ou on l'on confirmait le Roi et Monsieur son frère, Monsieur et moi nous fumes Parrain at Marraine du Roi et M. le Prince et Madame sa Mère le furent de Monsieur.'"
