Jane Brooks was condemned and executed at Charde As-sizes, March 26th, 1C58. This is the sum of M. Hunts narrative, which concludeswith both the justices attestation, thus:—The aforesaid passageswere some of them seen by us, and the rest, and some other re-markable ones not here set down, were, upon examination of sev-eral credible witnesses, taken upon Oath before us. ABT MAGIC. 300 Thousands, and tens of thousands of narratives have beenalready published on the subject of Witchcraft, some colored bvthe wildest exaggeration, others circumstantial in detail, and asmatter-of-fact as the one quoted above—all tend to prove the ex-istence of unknown and occult forces pervading human history,equally influential upon individuals and communities, and perpet-ually challenging the attention of the wise and philosophic for aclassification of the facts, and the evolvement of some basicprinciples of spiritual science by which to explain, govern andcontrol them.
