It is held together by a broad band ofmetal, said to be silver, and is imbedded in the southeast cornerof the Kaaba five feet from the ground. The pilgrimage to Mecca should be performed in the twelfthlunar month of the calendar called Dhu el Haj. It is incum-bent on every believer except for lawful hindrance because ofpoverty or illness.
