Summary[edit]

Description
English: Approaching the opencast workings on the east side of Mynydd Parys At the end of the 18th century 1,200 men, women and children were engaged in copper mining on Mynydd Parys. The leading light in the venture was an Anglesey lawyer by the name of Thomas Williams, an ancestor of the artist Sir Kyffin Williams. Although he made a fortune out of the industry, Thomas Williams, by the standards of his day, was regarded as an enlightened employer and was known as "Twm Chwara Teg" (Fair-Play Tom).
