Summary[edit]
DescriptionApproach to New Radnor and the memorial - geograph.org.uk - 678817.jpg |
English: Approach to New Radnor and the memorial View north-west with Whimble Hill on the horizon and New Radnor church on the extreme left. The entrance to the village is dominated by the imposing 21 metre high gothic-style Sir George Cornewall Lewis Memorial. Sir George became Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1855 and held other ministerial offices. Curiously, this Grade II* listed monument has no owner and has been the subject of many council disputes over its upkeep.
