The factual accuracy of this map or the file name is disputed.
Reason: No source for the boundaries. The western border seems completely arbitrary. None of the cited sources support it. Also, the interpretation of "Tri-kalinga" is debated among historians. The cited source (Outline of the History of Kalinga by R.C. Majumdar). Majumdar actually opposes the view that Trikalinga denotes the "whole of Kalinga in its widest extent". Quote: "As a matter of fact, the references [...] leave no doubt that Tri-Kalinga meant a region, distinct from, and much less important than, Kalinga." According to Majumdar, Trikalinga is the hilly region lying to the west of Kalinga. |
