Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Eran is an ancient site with Gupta era temples, artwork and inscribed pillars.
  • The curator notes state, "The town of Eran has been occupied from the second century BC onwards. It is located in a naturally defensible position, in a bend in the Bina river. Eran was an important site during the Gupta period and this view shows some of the monuments that were built at that time. The main structure shown in this photograph is the small pillared portico of a ninth century Vishnu Temple. Broken columns carved with the vase and foliage motif lie on the ground and a sculpture of Vishnu can be seen in the background to the left. "
  • The original 2-D print is now in public domain. Wikimedia's PD-Art guidelines apply. Any rights I have as a photographer, I herewith donate to the public domain through wikimedia commons.
