Description
Français : Un officier américain (trait vertical blanc sur son casque) assis sur une tuyauterie.

Il visse un robinet sur un piquage effectué sur un pipeline. Il porte des lunettes de protection, voir ici : www.flickr.com/photos/mlq/1725283355/in/pool-autresphotos... Cette photo est présentée page 438 du livre :"Cherbourg Port De La Liberté Dans La Bataille De Normandie" de Robert Lerouvillois, Éditions Isoete ; avec cette légende : Oléoduc passant près du terrain de Querqueville. Installation par un officier d'un robinet pour remplir les jerrycans transportés par C-47, ces appareils étant dépourvus de réservoirs de transport. En effet les jerrycans vides étaient transportés par air vers la Normandie. Les C 47 -entre autres moyens de transport- amenaient sur les terrains "C" : A-21C ou, ici, A-23C Querqueville des jerrycans NEUFS et /ou VIDES qui étaient ensuite remplis d'AVGAS (essence avion) qui arrivait par les pipe-line ou par pétroliers qui déchargeaient leur cargaison à des terminaux côtiers.. Les jerrycans étaient alors emplis d'essence et chargés sur camions pour être acheminés sur les différents ALGs. S'ils étaient acheminés ainsi c'est parce que cette logistique était du domaine de l'USAAF.
