The amusement ride near the exposition entrance was called the Giant Whirl Flying Machine.

The Giant Whirl Flying Machine was a forty foot structure that swung riders around in boats connected by long chains. Ride admission was ten cents. After the exposition, the amusement ride was transferred to the Oaks Amusement Park in Portland. "The Trail" was an 800 foot-long street that featured amusements and carnival attractions. The Lewis and Clark Exposition was hosted by the city of Portland from June 1 to October 15, 1905. Covering over 400 acres, the fair showcased exhibits from various nations and states, and it promoted the economic potential of the Pacific Northwest region.
